When it comes to Medicare, there are several plans that could provide you with the coverage you need.
Original Medicare
Original Medicare is the standard package you sign up for when you first become eligible for Medicare and consists of Part A and Part B. Part A is hospital insurance (covering inpatient costs); Part B is medical insurance (covering outpatient costs).
Medicare Supplements
Medicare Supplement Plans cover a portion or all of the expenses for certain aspects of Part A and Part B expenses, including coinsurance, copayments, and deductibles. The ten available plans are lettered A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N.
Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage Plans, or Part C, offers the same coverage as Original Medicare. However, many plans offer additional benefits such as coverage for dental, hearing, vision care, and prescription drugs.
Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D offers coverage for prescription drugs. All plans cover nearly all drugs in six categories: anticancer, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antipsychotics, antiretrovirals, and immunosuppressants.
